Choice of Timber Cladding
Choose between 12mm deal (pine), 12mm pressure treated deal (pine), cedar, 19mm deal (pine) or 19mm pressure treated deal (pine). The 12mm and 19mm deal are pre-treated with a water based preservative inside and out before it leaves the factory. The 12mm and 19mm pressure treated deal has a long-lasting treatment forced deep inside the timber giving the timber an attractive green hue which compliments gardens well. The Western Red Cedar is a beautiful and versatile timber which produces its own natural oils and preservatives making it a durable and rot-resistant species of timber, perfect for a garden summerhouse.
All Malvern Traditional range buildings are supplied as standard with a green, red or black colour felt roof.

This Tudor is the 8ft x 8ft version and has all of the top of the range specifications fitted.
These include the attractive cedar slatted roof which is laid over mineralised roofing felt for double protection from the elements. The windows and doors have the small pane 'Georgian' style glazing and are fitted with brass furniture, and the whole building benefits from cedar cladding which is extremely durable and good looking.
( NB The 8 x 8 Tudor now has a roof which rises to a central point with one finial on top. One window is standard each side. ).
The Tudor comes in a choice of three different timbers : Cedar or Deal ( pine ) cladding or Pressure treated construction throughout. This demonstrates a couple of other features too ... full length glazing in the doors and side windows ( two top-opening lights are included ), a pressure treated slatted roof, brass door and window fittings, and floor bearers.
All glazing is with toughened safety glass.
This is the Tudor constructed with pressure treated timber. There's a description of the benefits of this type on construction further down the page but good looks come high up the list !
This particular showmodel has the optional pressure treated slatted roof and brass window and door fittings.
This 10 x 8 Tudor has our standard large window format which makes the building light and airy. To create even more daylight an additional window is included on each side of this display model.

The Tudor is roomy and good looking, purpose built to provide a focal point in your garden.
This example is 10ft wide and 8ft deep. It is constructed with 'deal' ( pine ) cladding and has standard long line windows which are glazed with toughened safety glass. It features four optional upgrades ... Firstly the floor bearers which keep the floor joists up off the ground and therefore extend the life of the building considerably. Secondly it has a cedar overlap roof fitted over the normal felted roof: this is attractive but also protects the felted roof beneath. Thirdly the brass pack. Finally, if you look very carfully you will also notice two windows fitted each side whereas one is standard
Pressure treatment is literally that : all components of the building are placed in a large pressurised cylinder which forces the preservative deep into the timber. The formulation of the preservative gives our pressure treated summerhouses their green / yellow hue which complements so many gardens.
Good looks and an extended lifetime are the main benefits of choosing pressure treated construction.
Cedar is well known for its durability, good looks and quality. With its own natural oils, it lasts for many , many years without rotting although we would advise you to treat it with a good quality wood preserver every couple of years to help maintain its good looks.
Our 'cedar' summerhouses contain cedar doors, windows and external cladding and trims. They have preservative treated Deal ( pine ) framing, floors and verandahs ( where fitted ).
There are 5 window styles available with our summerhouse range.
From L to R these are Plain, Square Lead, Diamond Lead, Georgian, and Full Length Glass.
The exact layout, numbers of windows, and positioning is discussed on the pages relating to each product but for a general overview this is a useful comparison.
