The Fort Caradoc is an ideal solution where space and size is an issue! Fitting neatly into a corner of your garden, this unassuming summer house is complete with a pent roof and Georgian windows. The summer house is constructed using 38mm x 50mm framing throughout and toughened safety glass a standard feature. Available in three sizes - the Caradoc is a popular choice!
Why Choose a Caradoc Summerhouse?
Choice of Timber Cladding
Cladding on the Caradoc Summerhouse is available in a choice of 12mm deal shiplap, 18mm premier deal shiplap, 15mm deal Loglap or 15mm Tanalised E deal. The 12mm deal, 18mm premier deal shiplap and 15mm deal Loglap are pre-treated with a high quality, water-based wood preserver inside and out. The 15mm Tanalised E deal has a reputation for longevity, since the boards are placed in a pressure vessel and the preservative is forced deeper into the timber. The cladding has a green/yellow colour which is well liked but our recommendation is to re-treat it shortly after installation, and then annually afterwards - just as with the other cladding options to keep it in tip-top condition.

The Caradoc Summerhouse is a corner fitting design which utilises garden space to its maximum. Available in three sizes, this is a really well constructed building which has a comprehensive range of options, many of which are illustrated in the pictures in this gallery.
Georgian style opening windows and Georgian doors are standard, all with toughened safety glass.

Fort Caradoc Summerhouse 2.1m x 2.1m ( 7ft x 7ft )
This Caradoc Summerhouse is constructed using a loglap cladding which the optional paint finish shows off to good effect.
Georgian style opening windows and Georgian doors are standard, all with toughened safety glass.
We are able to offer installation from the manufacturer's own skilled teams of fitters.
Bitumen felt roof shingles
These are an attractive and hard wearing alternative to standard roofing felt.
Four colour choices are available : Black, slate, red, or green.
Standard 12mm external cladding
This is the standard external tongued and grooved cladding used on all of our Fort sheds, summerhouses and playhouses. The finished thickness after machining is 12mm. It is treated with a good quality preservative prior to leaving the factory but we do recommend that you re-coat within a few months and preferably in the late autumn each year. You can purchase the appropriate timber treatment from us if you wish.
Premier 18mm external cladding
If you wish, you can upgrade to 18mm thick external cladding. This makes for a much sturdier and heavier summerhouse. This is still treated with a good quality preservative in the same way as the standard cladding and the same recommendations for re-coating it apply.
Tanalised 15mm external cladding and construction
If you wish, you can upgrade to 15mm thick tanalised external cladding. Tanalised, or pressure treated timber, has a reputation for longevity since the boards are placed in a pressure vessel and the preservative is forced deeper into the timber. The cladding has a green/yellow colour which is well liked but our recommendation is to re-treat it shortly after installation, and then annually afterwards just as with the other cladding options to keep it in tip-top condition.
Tanalised buildings include tanalised floors, roofs, doors, windows, and framing... in other words the whole building !
Loglap 15mm cladding
The picture shows the optional loglap cladding available with any of our Fort Original buildings. 15mm is measured at the widest point of the tongued and grooved board. The internal face is the normal smooth face you get on our standard cladding. This is a cladding that is chosen predominantly for its looks rather than any technical advantage. After care is the same as for our other cladding options described here.
Painted finish on external cladding
Shown here on one of our summerhouses, this building has been painted with 'swiss blue' and white. If you choose a paint finish then you can have a maximum of two colours, generally used so that the highlights are one colour and the main body of the building another.
The paint is applied at the factory after the building has been preservative treated and therefore requires a couple of extra weeks on top of the normal delivery time. This means that the internal finish is the normal preservative colour rather than the external colour.
With 12 colours to choose from the possibilities are ( almost ) endless !
Colour options
This sample board illustrates the colour options available.
Heavy duty floor
All of our Fort Original buildings are fitted with a sturdy tongued and grooved floor as you would expect from buildings of this quality ( rather than chipboard or fibre board ).
For additional strength you can upgrade to a heavy duty floor ( pictured on the LH ) which has 18mm thick floorboards on 45mm x 45mm joists. The standard floor has 12mm floorboards on 45mm x 30mm joists.
Antique style shoot bolts
Our double door summerhouses are fitted with a sturdy, antique style shoot bolt at top and bottom internally of the slave door for security and good looks.
Antique style handles and door lock
Pictured in close-up, the antique style door handles are standard fittings on this summerhouse.
The 3 lever lock is provided with 2 keys.
Antique handles and hinges
This style of handles and hinges is fitted on this summerhouse : I've chosen the picture of them on the double door of our Tythecott display model since it's painted white and gives a great contrast to illustrate the fittings !
Scalloped bargeboards
You can choose to have 'scalloped' bargeboards on your building at a small additional cost : shown here on an Apex roof building, the principle is the same for the other styles of summerhouse in our range.

Our Fort Original Summerhouses all come with optional installation. If you are thinking about having your garden summerhouse installed by our skilled team of fitters, please be aware that you will need to have a good, strong, level base, pre-prepared prior to your delivery date. We would normally recommend a base constructed from either slabs, concrete or heavy duty decking. These measures ensure that no detail is left out - ensuring that your summerhouse will be both delivered and installed without any inconvenience.
Our delivery times can vary from season to season. All of our buildings are made to order, so during the busy spring to summer seasons, this may increase depending on the building that you have purchased. Please feel free to contact us on 0800 999 0123 to check our current delivery times.
