Western Red Cedar Cladding
All the cladding, windows, doors and external trims are made from 100% Western Red Cedar from Canada. This is traditional timber used for garden buildings and greenhouses because it is very durable and extremely resistant to rot. Alton summer houses are treated with a clear oil based protector in their workshops.
Georgian Windows and Doors
Made in Alton's own workshop by skilled carpenters - every Alton summer house features Georgian windows and doors manufactured from Western red cedar and glazed with toughened safety glass.
Heavy Duty Thermowood Floor
Alton summer houses include a 21mm thick heavy-duty Thermowood floor and tanalised floor joists for a strong and long-lasting floor.
Whether single or double, your summer house door will be fitted with a proper 3 lever mortice lock so you can lock your contents away.
Red Felt Roof
As standard every Alton summer house has a red felt roof which matches the cedar cladding nicely. This may need replacing every few years if open to the elements.
Easy to Build
All Alton Summer houses are delivered in pre-assembled panels for a straightforward self assembly.
Stainless Steel Fixings
All the fixings provided are stainless steel. This helps to prevent unsightly black stains from rusty screws that you see on most sheds.
Satin-Chrome Door and Window Furniture
Window catches, door hinges, bolts and door hooks are all finished in a high-quality chrome - again giving a distinguished and enhanced feel to the building.
Cedar Slatted Roof Upgrade
The optional Cedar slatted roof not only makes your summer house even more attractive, it also covers the red felt and cedar trims at the bottom of the roof. This means your felt will not be exposed to the elements and it will last much longer. This option is well worth the additional expense, as it will prove value for money in the long run.

Since 1921 Alton have been reknowned for their quality cedar greenhouses. Now these attractive summer houses are flying the flag for the Alton principles: traditional design ideas with a clean, modern and beautifully finished building that will be a real centre piece in any garden. Alton have invested heavily in CNC machinery to ensure that your summer house has highly accurate joints - and this really shows in the quality of the product. Advances in machinery and technology have enabled for the first time, a fully flat-packed summer house which can be quickly assembled.
The largest of the range at 10ft x 10ft is the Alton Broadwell.
The Broadwell has 4ft double opening Georgian doors as standard, a red felt roof, Georgian windows, satin-chrome ironmongery and is crafted from Western Red Cedar and high grade redwood joinery.
Seen here with the optional Cedar Slatted Roof upgrade.
Here you can really get a feel for the size of the Broadwell.
The 10ft x 10ft model is the largest of the range and would realy make a grand feature of anyone's garden. As you can see, a great option to have is the Cedar slatted roof and with the Broadwell's 10ft x 10ft size - a large roof span covered in a 'sea' of cedar, really gives this building star appeal!
Here's a photo illustrating just what you can achieve in one of these fantastic summerhouses.
The cedar cladding and ornate Georgian windows gives these summerhouses the perfect setting for a nice piece of garden furniture, where you can entertain friends and family - as shown here in the 9ft x 8ft Mickleton.
The optional Cedar slatted roof not only makes your summerhouse more attractive in appearance - it adds a much longer life to your roof.
The Cedar slatted roof not only covers the felt roof - giving you a double protection, it also covers the cedar trims at the bottom, keeping water away from your building.
The plywood roof gives a nice neat surface on the inside of your summerhouse.
Made from natural hardwoods, the plywood roof gives additional strength and support to your summerhouse, while the colour variation in the natural hardwoods can vary - creating a very similar effect to the cedar cladding.
The internal framework of Alton summerhouses is made from high grade redwood of various thickness - including 69mm x 44mm for the roof joists.
Roof joists are machined at both ends and fit seamlessly with the purposely designed galvanized steel boss (as seen in the plywood roof photo) - which is strong and makes assembly far easier.
