Why Choose a Malvern Stanford Workshop Shed?
Choice of Timber Cladding
Choose between redwood, pressure treated, cedar, heavy duty redwood or heavy duty pressure treated. The redwood cladding (both standard and heavy-duty), are pre-treated with a water based preservative inside and out before it leaves the factory. The pressure treated cladding (both standard and heavy-duty), has a long-lasting treatment forced deep inside the timber giving the timber an attractive green hue which complements gardens well. We can also provide this building in a 23mm pressure treated Barnstyle which is an attractive and practical timber with an over-lapping cladding effect. The Western Red Cedar is a beautiful and versatile timber which produces its own natural oils and preservatives making it a durable and rot-resistant species of timber, perfect for a garden shed.

12ft x 10ft wide Stanford plus log store
This good looking building is stylish and very roomy providing indoor and outdoor storage areas.
Points to note are the cedar overlap slatted roof, (which is laid over an inner felted roof for double protection) and the log store on the LH side.
This building shows the standard preservative treatment on Cedar cladding. Double doors give a generous opening for sit on mowers, machinery and garden furniture storage.
Stanford 12ft x 10ft wide
The Stanford in this picture is 10ft wide at the gable end and has double doors which latch back with the hooks provided. A run of windows down one side give good ventilation and the glass is toughened for safety and security.
This building has the optional pressure treated slatted roof which looks good and protects the roof even in the most severe weather.
The main construction of this building is with our Barnstyle cladding, a 23mm thick pressure treated timber which overlaps on the outside but gives a smooth weathertight finish on the inside.
Each Heavy Duty shed can be professionally installed by Malvern's own teams of skilled fitters on the same day as delivery is made. Make sure to choose installation for a hassle free and quick installation.
Stanford 14ft x 8ft wide
This is an innovative and very useful version of our Stanford shed.
The main building is constructed in this instance with pressure treated barnstyle cladding. It is fitted with double doors so the customer can park their sit-on mower inside. The roof is also pressure treated ... the slatted roof is laid over a felted roof to make doubly sure that it is absolutely watertight.
The principal feature also shown in the adjoining picture is the side verandah which is handy for storing logs, garden furniture, bikes ... anything really that needs to be undercover!
Stanford 10ft x 10ft in cedar with clear treatment
The beauty of newly constructed cedar buildings is well known, and as they age the timber takes on a silver hue which is also much admired.
Our clear treatment seeks to retain the original colour of the timber for as long as possible, apart from protecting the timber in the normal way.
The longevity of the cedar wood itself is down to its own characteristics ... it contains its own natural oils which protect it in all weathers. It isn't unusual for cedar buildings to have a life span of over 25 years.
Stanford 10ft x 8ft wide
This Stanford has barnstyle cladding and is finished in Malvern Green. It's at our Bristol display centre (Oct.2012) but we have Stanfords on show at our branches all over the country for you to visit and inspect the heavy duty construction yourself. Please take a look at the 'where can I see one' section below to locate your nearest display. A visit to one of our display centres will give you a chance to inspect and compare prices of sheds of different construction strengths.
Stanford 10ft x 6ft wide
One of the smallest sizes of our Stanford shed, 10ft x 6ft.
This building is finished in a Medium Oak stain on Deal external cladding. The quality of the finish needs to be seen first hand but other pictures on this page will give you some idea of how good this looks close up.
The pictured building demonstrates the black felt tiled roof option (also available in green or red). Other roof coverings available are cedar shingles, cedar overlap boards, or pressure treated overlap boards.
External cladding can be Deal (as pictured with optional Medium Oak painted finish), 20mm thick Deal, pressure treated 23mm barnstyle cladding or cedar.
Each Heavy Duty shed can be professionally installed by Malvern's own teams of skilled fitters on the same day as delivery is made. Make sure to choose installation for a hassle free and quick installation.
Stanford 14ft x 10ft wide
This picture shows the optional Medium Oak painted finish for a Deal claddded building on a 14ft x 10ft Stanford shed. Note the generous sized double doors which are an option.
You can specify this building in a wide choice of cladding options, with several different roof styles and in a choice of colours.
Stanford in colour on cedar cladding
An attractive Stanford with it's log store set on the LH side. The paint finish demonstrates one of our attractive countryside colours painted onto the cedar cladding.
The Stanford is displayed at all 36 GBC branches throughout the UK and needs to be seen to be appreciated as there are few, if any, other sheds which can offer so many features and provide such value for money.
Stanford 14ft x 8ft wide plus log store
This Stanford is constructed with cedarwood cladding, a very long lasting option as cedar has its own natural oils which help to protect the timber. On this Stanford we have treated the cedar with a Medium Oak stain too which gives it a beautiful sheen.
Points of particular interest on this building are the log store to one side and the standard single door which has security hinges and a secure mortice lock.
Each Heavy Duty shed can be professionally installed by Malvern's own teams of skilled fitters on the same day as delivery is made. Make sure to choose installation for a hassle free and quick installation.
Stanford 14ft x 10ft wide
Another Stanford finished in Medium Oak stain, with double opening front doors. This one is at our Ferndown display centre but we have Stanfords on show at our braches all over the country for you to visit and inspect the heavy duty construction yourself.
Please click on the 'where can I see one' button at the bottom of this page to locate your nearest display. A visit to one of our display centres will give you a chance to inspect and compare prices of sheds of different construction strengths.
Stanford Shed 14ft x 8ft wide
Another 14 x 8 Pressure treated building featuring a double door and the pressure treated overlap roof.
Joinery-made windows with toughened safety glass are fitted as standard.
12mm Deal ( Pine ) cladding for Stanford sheds
Our standard cladding on Stanford sheds is 12mm deal ( pine ). This is treated with a wash of quality wood preserver both inside and out before it leaves the factory.
19mm Deal ( Pine ) cladding for Stanford sheds
Our standard cladding on Stanford sheds is 12mm deal ( pine ). This is treated with a wash of quality wood preserver both inside and out before it leaves the factory.
Illustrated here is the 19mm thick cladding option. Some customers prefer this as the shed walls are considerably thicker and allow some items to be mounted on the boards. In very windy locations it also makes what is already a very sturdy building heavier and less prone to damage.
Barnstyle 23mm pressure treated construction
Pressure treatment is literally that : all components of the building are placed in a large pressurised cylinder which forces the preservative deep into the timber. The formulation of the preservative gives the pressure treated Stanford sheds their green / yellow hue which complements so many gardens. The Barnstyle cladding is of heavy duty 23mm timber that locks together to create a smooth finish on the interior. Good looks and an extended lifetime are the main benefits of choosing pressure treated construction.
Medium Oak finish
This is the optional Medium Oak stain finish. We also supply the Stanford shed in a range of 12 countryside colours. Take a look at our Cottage Summerhouse pages on this website which will show you many of the colour choices available.
Pictured here is the Medium Oak stain on our pine cladding. It has a lustrous sheen and preserves and protects the timber for many years.
Cedar cladding for Stanford sheds
This picture illustrates the cedar cladding used on a large proportion of our Stanford sheds. Cedar is known for its long life and good looks. It has its own natural oils in the timber which makes it very resistant to rot. Despite this we still pre-treat your Stanford shed with a wash of quality wood preserver before it leaves the factory thus ensuring it gets off to a great start in life !
Secure locking
The Stanford Shed is provided with a secure 3 lever lock and 'antique' style handles and hinges.
Double doors (from inside)
This shot shows the double doors from inside. (This is interesting if you are a shed enthusiast !)
Points to note are the framed, ledged and braced doors: this means that the doors are cross braced so they won't move out of square and that the edges are all reinforced.
The other point to note in the picture are the angled braces in the sections to each side of the door ... without these the front of the building would go out of square and the doors wouldn't open properly. A simple precaution you would think but one which isn't featured on many competitors' buildings.
Decked Verandah
This is a handy option for temporary storage of pretty much anything that needs to be out of the rain. Furniture, BBQ, toys, logs ... whatever you need to protect.
Or maybe you could just sit there with a cup of tea on a typical British summer day and watch the rain!
The verandah floor is decked boarding so it drains without a problem.
Joinery made windows
We refer to 'joinery made windows' elsewhere in this website without really explaining what it means. These windows are properly jointed at the corners (rather than butt jointed) which makes them extremely sturdy and resistant to twisting and warping. They are constructed using a moulded edging section which is more attractive than conventional finishes.
Roof overhang
The roof overhangs the front of the shed by around 18 inches to give protection to the doors and to help keep you dry when locking up ! If you haven't got space to accommodate this there's no need to worry, the Stanford shed can be made without the overhang if you prefer.
Eaves overhang
Solid and sturdy construction features allow us to provide an overhang at the eaves of the building protecting the shed walls and windows from the worst of the weather.
Heavy duty floor
The Stanford shed has a long lasting 19mm heavy duty floor with pressure treated closely spaced support joists beneath.
Although it's shown here with 19mm deal floorboards, if you choose the pressure treated construction for the building the floor will also have pressure treated floorboards.
Roof construction
The Stanford shed has fully framed roof components which add strength and stability to the whole structure. The panels are fixed together and then further strengthened by the use of roof trusses at appropriate distances apart depending on the size of the shed.
Cedar Overlap Roof
This picture shows the cedar slatted overlap roof finish available for the Stanford. Laid over an inner felted roof this gives double protection to the building and is an attractive addition which will weather over the years to a silver grey colour.
Slatted overlap roof
The Stanford shed roof can have pressure treated slats for an extra touch of style at an additional cost. These are laid over a felted inner roof which ensures that it is double weatherproofed!
Cedar slatted roofs are available too. Other options include felt tiles or cedar shingles.
Onduline Roof System
This picture illustrates a new addition to the range known as Onduline roof sheeting.
This is an extremely reliable roofing and waterproofing system used in all sorts of buildings such as individual houses, commercial and industrial buildings, as well as on our sheds !
It's a lightweight, extremely durable eco material which is laid over the normal tongued and grooved roof giving maximum protection against all kinds of weather.
Felt roof tiles
Black, red or green bituminous felt roof tiles are available with all Stanford sheds. They are hardwearing, attractive and functional too.
Workbench for Stanford
Illustrated here is the workbench available as an option with Malvern Stanford sheds. Sturdily built (in this case in preservative treated deal), the workbench allows you to maximise the use of your shed from day one!
Also well illustrated in this picture is the pressure treated floor which comes as standard with every Stanford. This is a heavy duty floor with pressure treated joists too and guarantees a long life (providing of course that the building is installed on a suitable base).
Workbench for Stanford
Illustrated here is the workbench available as an option with Malvern Stanford sheds. Sturdily built (in this case in pressure treated timber), the workbench allows you to maximise the use of your shed from day one!
Lockable casement stays
Lockable casement stays are a security feature on all Stanford models.
Shown here on the pressure treated Stanford.
T&G pine lining and insulation
Another useful option with the Stanford is the uFoil insulation and tongued and grooved internal lining. This makes your Stanford a true hobby room or studio with the additional protection this gives.
The picture shows the intersection of the walls and roof and some detail around the roof truss.
The UFoil insulation is in the cavity between the walls.
Georgian style windows
Georgian style windows are an option with all Stanford sheds, whether painted or not!
All Stanford windows are glazed with toughened safety glass, including these small pane Georgian Style windows.
Antique style handles and security hinges
This white door on a painted Holt gives a good background to show off the antique style handles and 3 hinges which are fitted on all Stanfords, whether painted or not !
Look carefully and you'll see that the hinges have a security screw as well as normal screws in each section to help prevent break-ins.
Black felt
Black has been added to Red and Green to allow you to choose the mineralised roof felt colour that best fits your location.
Shed shelves
We offer a range of different length shelves, 9" wide, for all of our Malvern sheds.
