Why Choose a Malvern Holt Apex Workshop Shed?
Choice of Timber Cladding
Choose between redwood, pressure treated, cedar, heavy duty redwood or heavy duty pressure treated. The redwood cladding (both standard and heavy-duty), are pre-treated with a water based preservative inside and out before it leaves the factory. The pressure treated cladding (both standard and heavy-duty), has a long-lasting treatment forced deep inside the timber giving the timber an attractive green hue which complements gardens well. We can also provide this building in a 23mm pressure treated Barnstyle which is an attractive and practical timber with an over-lapping cladding effect. The Western Red Cedar is a beautiful and versatile timber which produces its own natural oils and preservatives making it a durable and rot-resistant species of timber, perfect for a garden shed.

Holt Apex 10ft wide x 8ft
Here's a very different version of the Holt proving that it's truly a building you can specify exactly as you require.
In this instance we've painted the 23mm Barnstyle cladding in black and fitted 'Georgian style windows' which are painted white in contrast. There's an additional window at each end too as this building is lined and insulated to use as a part time office.
The roof is finished with Canadian Cedar shingles which are exceptionally durable and long lasting apart from being very attractive!
Please let us know how you want your shed to look...the Holt can generally be built to meet your exact needs.
Holt Apex 12ft wide x 10ft deep with Onduline Roof
This stunning example of the Holt shed has a black onduline roof, an extremely hard wearing option only recently available. The building has an additional window in the RH end and all windows are constructed in 'Georgian' style.
The whole building is constructed with pressure treated timber and has 23mm barnstyle cladding.
Holt Apex 8ft x 6ft
This is a neat example of the 8ft x 6ft Holt, dressed up here with Moss Green painted external finish, georgian style window and cedar slatted roof.
The cladding beneath the paint finish is standard 12mm deal.
At the time of order you can specify which side you want the door to be, and which way you want it hinged.
Each Heavy Duty shed can be professionally installed by Malvern's own teams of skilled fitters on the same day as delivery is made. Make sure to choose installation for a hassle free and quick installation.
Holt with integral bench
Here's a new and impressive option for your Holt shed, an integral bench seat for the gable end where you can shelter for a cup of tea or just enjoy the view.
The floor of this area is decked with pressure treated timber and the integral bench can be ordered with a soft cushion if required.
It's an option on all sizes of the Holt.
Holt Apex 10ft x 8ft
This Holt Apex 10ft x 8ft, located at our Solihull branch, has 23mm Pressure Treated Barnstyle cladding with a pressure treated slatted roof, and Georgian style windows.
Holt Apex 10ft x 8ft in cedar
This is a top spec. version of the Holt, constructed with cedar cladding which is treated with a high quality preservative before leaving the factory. The windows are 'Georgian style' and the roof is the optional cedar slatted version (installed over the top of the normal roofing felt for good looks and extended life).
All the usual benefits of the Holt shed are evident : sturdy framework, superior construction of the floor and roof, above average door entry height, toughened safety glass, and the roof overhang which protects the top edge of the windows from the worst of the weather.
Holt Apex 10ft x 8ft
This Malvern Holt is painted in 'Malvern Green', our most popular colour; it's one of 12 countryside colours available for the Holt. The Georgian style windows are the same colour although they could be specified in a contrasting colour if preferred.
The roof is finished with the optional Canadian Cedar shingles.
All Holts are now constructed with a ridge height under 2.5 metres which means that planning permission will not be required in most instances.
Window and panels layouts have recently been improved so please ask our staff about the number of windows supplied as standard with your building.
Holt Apex 10ft wide x 8ft
This Holt is constructed in 'Barnstyle ' cladding which is a 23mm pressure treated weatherboard. The Holt has a single door as standard as pictured here and the rest of the front is made up with windows.
In this case the building has been modified with our 'tidy store' which is accessible from outdoors and provides a perfect area for bike storage or other garden equipment. The floor of the tidystore area is decked for drainage purposes.
A further addition on this building is the overlap pressure treated roof; this is laid over the normal mineralised roofing felt to make the building doubly watertight !
12mm Deal ( Pine ) cladding for Holt sheds
Our standard cladding on Holt sheds is 12mm deal ( pine ). This is treated with a wash of quality wood preserver both inside and out before it leaves the factory.
19mm Deal ( Pine ) cladding for Holt sheds
Our standard cladding on Holt sheds is 12mm deal ( pine ). This is treated with a wash of quality wood preserver both inside and out before it leaves the factory.
Illustrated here is the 19mm thick cladding option. Some customers prefer this as the shed walls are considerably thicker and allow some items to be mounted on the boards. In very windy locations it also makes what is already a very sturdy building heavier and less prone to damage.
Cedar cladding for Holt sheds
This picture illustrates the cedar cladding used on a large proportion of our Holt sheds. Cedar is known for its long life and good looks. It has its own natural oils in the timber which makes it very resistant to rot. Despite this we still pre-treat your Holt with a wash of quality wood preserver before it leaves the factory thus ensuring it gets off to a great start in life !
Barnstyle 23mm pressure treated construction
Pressure treatment is literally that : all components of the building are placed in a large pressurised cylinder which forces the preservative deep into the timber. The formulation of the preservative gives the pressure treated Holt sheds their green / yellow hue which complements so many gardens. The barnstyle cladding is of heavy duty 23mm timber that locks together to create a smooth finish on the interior. Good looks and an extended lifetime are the main benefits of choosing pressure treated construction.
Medium Oak finish
This is the optional Medium Oak stain finish. We also supply the Holt in a range of 12 countryside colours. Take a look at our Cottage Summerhouse pages on this website which will show you many of the colour choices available.
Pictured here is the Medium Oak stain on our pine cladding... it has a lustrous sheen and preserves and protects the timber for many years.
Secure locking
The Holt Shed is provided with a secure 3 lever lock and 'antique' style handles and hinges.
Heavy duty floor
The Holt Pent shed has a long lasting 19mm heavy duty floor with pressure treated closely spaced support joists beneath.
Although it's shown here ( on a wet day ! ) with pressure treated floorboards, if you choose the Deal or Cedar external cladding for the building the floor will be 19mm Deal with pressure treated joists.
Joinery made windows
We refer to 'joinery made windows' elsewhere in this website without really explaining what it means. These windows are properly jointed at the corners ( rather than butt jointed ) which makes them extremely sturdy and resistant to twisting and warping. They are constructed using a moulded edging section which is more attractive than conventional finishes.
Roof construction
The Holt shed has fully framed roof components which add strength and stability to the whole structure. The panels are fixed together and then further strengthened by the use of roof trusses at appropriate distances apart depending on the size of the shed.
Workbench for Holt ( Pressure treated construction )
Illustrated here is the workbench available as an option with Malvern Holt sheds. Sturdily built ( in this case in pressure treated timber ), the workbench allows you to maximise the use of your shed from day one !
Workbench for Holt ( Deal construction )
Illustrated here is the workbench available as an option with Malvern Holt sheds. Sturdily built ( in this case in preservative treated deal ), the workbench allows you to maximise the use of your shed from day one !
Lockable casement stays
Lockable casement stays are a security feature on all Holt models.
Shown here on the pressure treated Holt.
T&G pine lining and insulation
Another useful option with the Holt is the uFoil insulation and tongued and grooved internal lining. This makes your Holt a true hobby room or studio with the additional protection this gives.
The picture shows the intersection of the walls and roof and some detail around the roof truss.
The UFoil insulation is in the cavity between the walls.
Georgian style windows
Georgian style windows are an option with all Holt sheds, whether painted or not !
All Holt windows are glazed with toughened safety glass, including these small pane Georgian Style windows.
Antique style handles and security hinges
This white door on a painted Holt gives a good background to show off the antique style handles and 3 hinges which are fitted on all Holts, whether painted or not !
Look carefully and you'll see that the hinges have a security screw as well as normal screws in each section to help prevent break-ins.
Felt roof tiles
Black, red or green bituminous felt roof tiles are available with all Holt sheds. They are hardwearing, attractive and functional too.
Black felt
New for 2017, Black has been added to Red and Green to allow you to choose the mineralised roof felt colour that best fits your location.
Onduline Roof System
This picture illustrates a new addition to the range known as Onduline roof sheeting.
This is an extremely reliable roofing and waterproofing system used in all sorts of buildings such as individual houses, commercial and industrial buildings, as well as on our sheds !
It's a lightweight, extremely durable eco material which is laid over the normal tongued and grooved roof giving maximum protection against all kinds of weather.
Shed shelves
We offer a range of different length shelves, 9" wide, for all of our Malvern sheds.
