The Malvern Heavy Duty Pent shed is the perfect pent shed for security and durability. Featuring heavy duty framework, joinery-made opening and fixed windows, a 3-lever mortice lockable door and much more - The Malvern Heavy Duty Pent is ideal to be used as a workshop or craftroom! Most other sheds are constructed with only price in mind, which means they use the cheapest timber available, including feather edge boards, chipboard, flaxboard and so on. They are often hand coated with a cheap preservative on the outside only. The Malvern range come with tongue and groove timber (available in 5 different options), treated and finished to the highest standard. With an enormous amount of customisation options, you can really make this building your own!
At GBC, we are continuously striving to improve our products, methods and materials, which means we may change the specification of a product or range from time to time, but we will not make any significant changes without your agreement
Please take a look at our photo gallery which will show you various sizes of this building along with pictures of its construction and optional items.
Why Choose a Malvern Heavy Duty Pent Shed?
Choice of Timber Cladding
Choose between redwood, pressure treated, cedar, heavy duty redwood or heavy duty pressure treated. The redwood cladding (both standard and heavy-duty), are pre-treated with a water based preservative inside and out before it leaves the factory. The pressure treated cladding (both standard and heavy-duty), has a long-lasting treatment forced deep inside the timber giving the timber an attractive green hue which complements gardens well. The Western Red Cedar is a beautiful and versatile timber which produces its own natural oils and preservatives making it a durable and rot-resistant species of timber, perfect for a garden shed.

Heavy Duty Pent 8ft x 6ft
This illustrates the Pent shed with the door in the end. This particular building is a display model at one of our sites and is constructed with 19mm Deal (pine) cladding
When specified with the door in the end, an extra window is fitted in the front.
Heavy Duty Pent 10ft x 6ft
Pressure treated construction is a popular choice throughout our shed range. The framework, floor and cladding are all preservative treated under pressure. The formulation of the preservative gives the pressure treated heavy duty sheds their green/yellow hue which complements so many gardens. Good looks and an extended lifetime are the main benefits of choosing pressure treated cladding.
The door on this building is shown on the front right but it could be front left or either end. You also need to specify, at the time of ordering, which side you want it hinged.
Heavy Duty Pent 14ft x 8ft
This is a shot of the 14ft x 8ft Heavy Duty Pent shed. This building is constructed with Deal (pine) cladding. The door is fitted to the left of the front however this can be positioned to the right hand front or either gable side. We can also add double doors on a model 8ft wide or greater.
This superb cedar shed is from the Malvern Heavy Duty Shed range. Every aspect of its design has been carefully developed during the 25 years that Malvern have been producing garden sheds.
Cedar has its own natural oils in the timber which makes it very resistant to rot. Despite this we still pre-treat your Heavy Duty Pent with a wash of quality wood preserver before it leaves the factory thus ensuring it gets off to a great start in life!
Each Heavy Duty shed can be professionally installed by Malvern's own teams of skilled fitters on the same day as delivery is made. Make sure to choose installation for a hassle free and quick installation.
Heavy Duty Pent 10 x 6
Here's an unusual picture which demonstrates just how robust our Heavy Duty sheds are ... this was taken in January 2012 at our Edinburgh showsite after 102mph winds ripped down surrounding trees and deposited them onto our premises !
Here the 10 x 6 Pent shed carries the substantial weight of this fallen fir tree. It doesn't take much imagination to figure out why Heavy Duty is best !
12mm Deal ( Pine ) cladding for heavy duty sheds
Our standard cladding on Heavy Duty sheds is 12mm deal ( pine ). This is treated with a wash of quality wood preserver both inside and out before it leaves the factory.
19mm Deal ( Pine ) cladding for heavy duty sheds
Our standard cladding on Heavy Duty sheds is 12mm deal ( pine ). This is treated with a wash of quality wood preserver both inside and out before it leaves the factory.
Illustrated here is the 19mm thick cladding option. Some customers prefer this as the shed walls are considerably thicker and allow some items to be mounted on the boards. In very windy locations it also makes what is already a very sturdy building heavier and less prone to damage.
Pressure treated construction for heavy duty sheds
Pressure treatment is literally that : all components of the building are placed in a large pressurised cylinder which forces the preservative deep into the timber. The formulation of the preservative gives the pressure treated heavy duty sheds their green / yellow hue which complements so many gardens.
Good looks and an extended lifetime are the main benefits of choosing pressure treated construction.
Cedar cladding for Heavy Duty sheds
This picture illustrates the cedar cladding used on a large proportion of our Heavy Duty sheds. Cedar is known for its long life and good looks. It has its own natural oils in the timber which makes it very resistant to rot. Despite this we still pre-treat your Heavy Duty shed with a wash of quality wood preserver before it leaves the factory thus ensuring it gets off to a great start in life !
15" Workbench for Heavy Duty sheds
Illustrated here is the 15inch wide workbench available as an option with Malvern Heavy Duty sheds.
Sturdily built in preservative treated timber, the workbench allows you to maximise the use of your shed from day one !
24" Wide Workbench for Malvern Heavy Duty Sheds
This is the sturdy 24" wide workbench which is available for the Heavy Duty Pent. It stands on a series of timber H frames and provides an ideal surface for tools or just storage.
Joinery-made windows for Heavy Duty sheds
Look carefully at this picture and you will see the quality of manufacture of these windows from one of our Heavy Duty sheds.
Each window is pre-glazed at the factory. The glass in this particular window is kite marked as it is glazed with toughened safety glass which is standard with all Heavy Duty Malvern Sheds.
Also illustrated are the casement stays which enable the window to be pegged open to suit you.
Heavy Duty Shed door
This picture illustrates the strength of a Malvern Heavy Duty shed door. Fully framed, ledged and braced, this 35" width door will not go out of square! It has a built-in 3 lever mortice lock for security. Pictured here on a Heavy Duty Apex, the doors are exactly the same on the Heavy Duty Pents.
For additional security please see pictures below of our 'security pack' option.
Stable door for Heavy Duty sheds
This is a popular option with our Malvern Heavy Duty sheds. Pictured here on an Apex model, the principle is exactly the same for the Heavy Duty Pent sheds.
My favourite reason for choosing this option was a parent who wanted to keep his small children out while he used power tools in the shed... what a good idea !
Security pack for Malvern Heavy Duty sheds
All Malvern Heavy Duty sheds have a three lever mortice lock fitted as standard. For additional security you may choose our Security Pack.
This includes a Padlock Protector ( which is bolted into place ), a padlock, and hinges fitted with a dome bolt through the centre of each section of the hinge.
Heavy Duty Shed door furniture
Black japanned door handles and hinges in antique style are standard fittings with our Heavy Duty sheds.
Also well illustrated in this picture is the 3 lever mortice lock.
Weatherstrips for Heavy Duty Pent Sheds
This picture shows in detail the weatherstrips which are fitted over the windows on our Heavy Duty Pent sheds. These deflect water away from the hinges and help prevent water ingress.
Heavy Duty Shed floors
This photo may look a little boring but it illustrates a couple of important points. Firstly, the floors in our heavy duty sheds are made from real timber rather than from chipboard or other board products. Real timber lasts better and is more resistant to damp than any board products commonly used in other sheds. Secondly, you can see that the boards are nailed to the floor joists at 12 inch centres making these floors exceptionally strong. Thirdly, the floor is treated with a good quality preservative before it leaves the factory ensuring that it gives many years service ... after all, you can't get at the underside of the floor to re-treat it once installed !
Heavy Duty shed framing
Malvern Heavy Duty sheds have 2inch x 2inch framing throughout. This is exceptionally strong and gives structural rigidity to the whole building making it resistant to bad weather and ensuring many years of trouble free use.
The picture shows where the sides meet the roof ... which is constructed with real timber boarding rather than with chipboard or other board products sometimes used by other manufacturers.
Pressure Treated Floor Bearers
If you are a novice when it comes to sheds then this picture is for you !
Our shed floors are constructed with floor joists which are deal (pine). These can be seen under the floor running down the length of this shed. If they are set directly onto your base they will deteriorate after a few years as water penetrates into the timber. By choosing a set of pressure treated floor bearers ( the timber running side to side in this picture ) you will create an air gap which keeps the floor joists dry and therefore extends the life of your shed significantly. These bearers will last a lifetime as the preservative is forced into the timber under pressure. This is the same process used for fenceposts and suchlike. We highly recommend the purchase of bearers with your shed.
Black felt
New for 2017, Black has been added to Red and Green to allow you to choose the mineralised roof felt colour that best fits your location.
Shed shelves
We offer a range of different length shelves, 9" wide, for all of our Malvern sheds.

Our Malvern Traditional Sheds all come with optional installation. If you are thinking about having your garden shed installed by our skilled team of fitters, please be aware that you will need to have a good, strong, level base, pre-prepared prior to your delivery date. We would normally recommend a base constructed from either slabs, concrete or heavy duty decking. We will always confirm these details with you at point of order and we will provide you with base plans if needed. These measures ensure that no detail is left out - ensuring that your garden shed will be both delivered and installed without any inconvenience.
Our delivery times can vary from season to season, but typically, you should expect to receive your building around 3-4 weeks from when you order.
