Designed to help gardeners protect their plants during the winter months, the Membury Pent has glazing across the front, an opening window either side to create a sufficient air circulation and a robust workbench to provide a sturdy potting surface. Not only does this shed work well for potting up and over wintering plants, but it also provides a robust storage space within your garden.
Why Choose a Membury Pent?
Choice of Timber Cladding
Cladding on the Membury Pent shed is available in a choice of 12mm deal shiplap, 18mm premier deal shiplap, 15mm deal Loglap or 15mm Tanalised E deal. The 12mm deal, 18mm premier deal shiplap and 15mm deal Loglap are pre-treated with a high quality, water-based wood preserver inside and out. The 15mm Tanalised E deal has a reputation for longevity, since the boards are placed in a pressure vessel and the preservative is forced deeper into the timber. The cladding has a green/yellow colour which is well liked but our recommendation is to re-treat it shortly after installation, and then annually afterwards - just as with the other cladding options to keep it in tip-top condition.

Fort Membury Shed 2.4m x 1.8m ( 8ft x 6ft )
This is an interesting hybrid of shed and greenhouse which provides an ideal environment for over-wintering tender plants and bringing on seedlings in the early spring. Staging is included as standard as are the opening windows at each end.
You can, of course, choose which end the door opens and whether it should be hinged on the LH or the RH.
The diagonal braces inside the building keep it square and strong.
Our full range of options are available with this building so please ask a member of our staff for further details or use 'live chat' on this website.
Membury 1.8m x 1.8m ( 6ft x 6ft ) with stable door
The smallest version of the Membury is shown here with the optional stable door.
Don't forget, the door can be fitted at either end and hinged on the LH or RH for ease of access.
Fort Membury Shed 2.4m x 2.4m ( 8ft x 8ft )
This is the 8ft deep version of the Membury, on show at our Angmering display centre, one of several locations around the UK where you can examine the quality of our buildings close up !
All of the display locations are shown at the foot of this page.
Staging
The slatted staging is included as a standard feature with the Membury.
Standard 12mm external cladding
This is the standard external tongued and grooved cladding used on all of our Fort sheds, summerhouses and playhouses. The finished thickness after machining is 12mm. It is treated with a good quality preservative prior to leaving the factory but we do recommend that you re-coat within a few months and preferably in the late autumn each year. You can purchase the appropriate timber treatment from us if you wish.
Premier 18mm external cladding
If you wish, you can upgrade to 18mm thick external cladding. This makes for a much sturdier and heavier shed. This is still treated with a good quality preservative in the same way as the standard cladding and the same recommendations for re-coating it apply.
Tanalised 15mm external cladding and construction
If you wish, you can upgrade to 15mm thick tanalised external cladding. Tanalised, or pressure treated timber, has a reputation for longevity since the boards are placed in a pressure vessel and the preservative is forced deeper into the timber. The cladding has a green/yellow colour which is well liked but our recommendation is to re-treat it shortly after installation, and then annually afterwards just as with the other cladding options to keep it in tip-top condition.
Tanalised buildings include tanalised floors, roofs, doors, windows, and framing... in other words the whole building !
Loglap 15mm cladding
The picture shows the optional loglap cladding available with any of our Fort Original buildings. 15mm is measured at the widest point of the tongued and grooved board. The internal face is the normal smooth face you get on our standard cladding. This is an a cladding that is chosen predominantly for its looks rather than any technical advantage. After care is the same as for our other cladding options described here.
Painted finish on external cladding
Shown here on one of our summerhouses, this building has been painted with 'swiss blue' and white. If you choose a paint finish then you can have a maximum of two colours, generally used so that the highlights are one colour and the main body of the building another.
The paint is applied at the factory after the building has been preservative treated and therefore requires a couple of extra weeks on top of the normal delivery time. This means that the internal finish is the normal preservative colour rather than the external colour.
With 12 colours to choose from the possibilities are ( almost ) endless !
Colour options
This sample board illustrates the colour options available.
Heavy duty floor
All of our Fort Original buildings are fitted with a sturdy tongued and grooved floor as you would expect from buildings of this quality ( rather than chipboard or fibre board ).
For additional strength you can upgrade to a heavy duty floor ( pictured on the LH ) which has 18mm thick floorboards on 45mm x 45mm joists. The standard floor has 12mm floorboards on 45mm x 30mm joists.
Bitumen Felt shingles
These are an attractive and hard wearing alternative to standard roofing felt.
Four colour choices are available : Black, slate, red, or green.
Security pack
This is a useful security enhancement if you are concerned about the security of your building.
Firstly the security pack contains a fully framed door rather than the usual ledged and braced door. Next, each of the 3 hinges has a number of its screws replacing with bolts which are tightened from the inside. Finally, a padlock protector is fitted which protects the hasp of the padlock from hack saw attack !

We always give good notice of our arrival date allowing you to be sure it is the right time for you. We always appreciate any helpful information regarding access to your pre-prepared base area, plus any details you may need to share with us about reaching you - so that the delivery process can run as smoothly as possible.
Our Fort Original Sheds all come with optional installation. If you are thinking about having your garden shed installed by our skilled team of fitters, please be aware that you will need to have a good, strong, level base, pre-prepared prior to your delivery date. We would normally recommend a base constructed from either slabs, concrete or heavy duty decking. We will always confirm these details with you at point of order and we will provide you with base plans if needed. These measures ensure that no detail is left out - ensuring that your garden shed will be both delivered and installed without any inconvenience.
Our delivery times can vary from season to season. All of our buildings are made to order, so during the busy spring to summer seasons, this may increase depending on the building that you have purchased. Please feel free to contact us on 0800 999 0123 to check our current delivery times.
