Many standard greenhouses start at a basic level and then there are endless optional upgrades which can leave the finished greenhouse at three times the basic price. The idea with the Peak range of greenhouses is that all of the most popular upgrades are included as standard - such as toughened glass, auto vents, louvre side ventilation, downpipes and bar capping.
The Peak Richmond greenhouse is a fine example of 'quality comes first'. At 8' 5" wide and with lengths from 6' 7" to 20' 9", there is a size to suit everyone.

Strong Aluminium Frame
The Peak Richmond greenhouse features a strong aluminium frame, which has more metal in the frame and extra cantilever braces in the roof for strength. If you live in a windy location, the Peak range of greenhouses are for you! The glazing bars in this model are also strengthened at the gable ends. Many greenhouses use the same glazing bars all around, but since the gable end bars are longer - we made them stronger!
Full Sheet Toughened Safety Glass
Full sheet toughened safety glass is included with the Peak Richmond greenhouse. Many greenhouses use 3mm horticultural, overlap glass - but not the Richmond!
Bar Capping System
All of the toughened safety glass is held in place with full length PVC 'bar capping'. This eliminates the traditional greenhouse clips and is far neater and stronger in the wind.
High Eaves
With an eaves height of 5' 5", there is plenty of headroom inside this building. The extra high eaves give you more space to work in (and a higher door at 6'2"), but also create a more stable atmosphere for your plants. What's more, the extra height also allows room for adding an optional high level shelf - creating more usable space in the greenhouse.
Plenty of Ventilation
A generous number of roof vents and louvre side vents are included with these models to ensure good air-flow throughout your building. Automatic openers are included for all roof vents which open and close throughout the day. This means that your plants are at the correct temperature, even when you can't be there to keep an eye on them
Hanging Basket Rails
Hanging basket rails are included as standard with the Peak Richmond greenhouse. These full length rails are made from sturdy T-section and you can hang your baskets straight from them - making them easier to plant up and grow on.
Kick Panels
The 6" high protective base panels are made from colour coded aluminium and keep the glass up and away from ground level where it is vunerable.
Low Level Threshold
Many greenhouses on the market have a step at the door which can be inconvenient. The Peak range of greenhouses are all supplied with a low level threshold, to make it easier for you when carrying pots, using a wheelbarrow or a wheelchair. The sliding doors are all supplied with a simple lock to keep them closed in high wind, or you can lock them with a key for additional security.

Peak Richmond 8'5" x 10'8"
Pictured here is the Richmond 8'5" x 10'8" long in Old Cottage Green
It's an immensely strong greenhouse which uses more metal in the frame and cantilever and diagonal bracing throughout to make it the obvious choice for windy exposed sites or areas where heavy snow loading can be anticipated.
Lengths start at 6ft 7in but, with an 8ft extension kit added to the standard sizes, it isn't uncommon for us to supply buildings in excess of 20ft in length.
The Richmond has toughened safety glass as standard and a low level entrance threshold to make access straightforward (Many large greenhouses have a base plinth to trip over in the doorway).
On longer buildings it can be useful to add an internal partition which enables you to keep each area at different temperatures: often bubble-wrapping a smaller end compartment to bring on seedlings early in the year and then hardening them off in the larger, colder area as the spring draws on.
It's fitted with automatic ventilators and with louvre window(s) as standard.

*Please note - all 'Classic Green' finish buildings are now supplied in 'Old Cottage Green'. The previous 'Classic Green' colour has been discontinued
Peak staging
This sturdy integral staging is specially made for our Peak greenhouses and maximises the working area. It is supported on cantilever brackets which leaves the floor free of staging legs making it easy to sweep out or store things below the staging.
Available 25 inches deep as staging or 13 inches deep as shelving, it's a popular choice as it's easy to clean and extremely hard wearing.
5 blade louvre window
The smaller Peak greenhouses contain one 5 blade louvre window, all others have 2 included. They are glazed with toughened glass. We recommend fitting it/them at a low level to draw air up through the greenhouse roof vents thus helping prevent stale air causing mildew.
Automatic louvre openers can be purchased as an option which are useful additional accessories.
Cantilever bracing
Peak Greenhouses are fitted with very strong cantilever bracing at the eaves to add extra strength to what are already very sturdy greenhouses. It's belt and braces, I know, but if you have a greenhouse in an exposed location the more bracing it has the better!
Low level panels
The Peak greenhouses have low level aluminium panels which helps protect the glass from flying stones from strimmers or rotary mowers. Furthermore they help to hide some of the clutter that tends to accumulate at floor level over the years !

Roof vent with auto opener
The roof vent(s) are supplied as standard with heavy duty autovents. These will open up automatically to expel hot air and can be set by you to control the internal greenhouse temperature. They are particularly useful on early summer mornings when the temperature inside the greenhouse could sometimes rise to damaging levels before you have even got out of bed! The autovents will prevent this.
Rainwater kit, barrel and stand
This is a great way to conserve precious rainwater. Peak greenhouses have a built in gutter and downpipes which can be connected to any rainwater butt.
We sell water butts in two sizes : a slimline 100litre butt as pictured or a 210litre butt. Each has an optional stand which is also shown in the picture.
Winter Insulation
Insulating aluminium greenhouses to retain heat for overwintering tender plants and starting off new seedlings can be accomplished by using bubblewrap. This is usually pegged to the frame on the roof as well as the sides and gables but a customer sent in this picture of his solution to the pegging problem :
I have fixed the bubble insulation using three lengths of 13mm aluminium tube cut to length and suspended at the ends from the roof. The bubble wrap then just feeds up and over and down in one piece. It doesn’t require any pegging at all. It then just requires about eight pegs only, to fix the cut and shaped two end pieces. The tube can remain insitu throughout the year .
His building is a 6 x 5 Castle Balvenie but the principle would apply for any other model. Don't forget to disconnect autovents before you fit the bubblewrap or you'll lose all that lovely warm air !
Peak partition
This Peak model has a partitioned area so that a separate environment can be created in the rear compartment, often by using bubble insulation to provide a heated section to bring seedlings along in the spring.
