The Castle Penrith greenhouse will make a real feature in your garden. The elegance of the curved eaves is matched with a practical design - for example, guttering is included (including a downpipe each side) and the full length strengthening rails in the roof are provided with holes - ideal for hanging things from such as hanging baskets in the spring.
The Penrith comes complete with a 6' 2" high single sliding door with lock and ground level door threshold for easy access. The low threshold is ideal when using a wheelbarrow, wheelchair or for when you are carrying pots or grow bags.
With high 5'4" eaves, the Penrith greenhouse will give you more space when working inside and works really well when growing taller plants such as tomatoes. A choice of lengths are available from 4'3" to 12'4" ensuring you will find the right size greenhouse to suit your garden.
The Penrith greenhouse is available in two package deals.
As with all of our castle greenhouses, a range of optional extras are available including extra ventilation, waterbutts and automatic roof vent openers.
The Castle Penrith is supplied as standard with the attractive 'Old Cottage Green' powder coated coloured finish.
|Ridge Height||Eaves Height||Doors Width|

The Penrith will make a real feature in your garden with its attractively styled curved eaves and green finish framework. At 6'3" wide, and with lengths available up to 12'4", it is ideal for most locations.
The single doors gives ample access over the low threshold. This is a unique design which avoids the trip hazard of a metal base plinth found on many other types of greenhouse.
The Castle Penrith has a range of other features such as a door lock, tubular bracing at the ridge for additional strength, diagonal bracing on the sides to keep it square and sturdy, and high eaves which make it a comfortable greenhouse for taller gardeners too! The downpipes are a standard feature which are generally an additional cost item with other greenhouses on the market, and hanging basket rails are fitted which double as additional roof bracing.
Toughened safety glass is standard too and this helps protect all greenhouse users in the event of a fall and is easier to clean than horticultural glass. The curved eaves are glazed with acrylic panels.
Exclusively available from GBC in either plain aluminium finish or 'Old Cottage Green' coloured finish, please click on the 'where can I see one' tab on this page to find out where your nearest display site is or follow the links through to buy this building online today.
The Castle range is sturdy, strong and will last a lifetime. Part of the reason for its strength is illustrated here - the corner bars ( uprights and eave slopes ) have a double box section arrangement which adds a huge amount of rigidity to each profile.
Compare this to the cheap aluminium framework on other greenhouses which may fold up in bad weather conditions.
Walk into most other suppliers' greenhouses and you'll have to step over a base plinth which restricts your ease of entry. This is because their metal bases are sold as an extra item for your greenhouse frame to sit on top of.
Not so with our Castle greenhouses where an integral 4 inch ( 100mm ) high base plinth is provided as part of the kit. This is suitable to install on any firm, level area. In the doorway, however, we use a threshold plate at ground level so that the doors are taller and you can walk in without restriction. This is a far better design feature than most other suppliers.
Shown here on a single door Castle greenhouse, the principle is just the same with our double door models.
All that precious rainwater going to waste ?
Castle greenhouses have a downpipe set as a standard feature, something found generally on only the more expensive greenhouses.
Freestanding greenhouses have two stop ends for the integral gutters, two 90 degree outlets, downpipes, retaining clips and a 45 degree knuckle to turn the pipe towards a barrel ( not included ) or just to direct the water away from the framework.
Lean-to models have one downpipe and the associated components.
You will need to provide adequate storage vessels ...plastic barrels for instance. At GBC we can supply these for you, just ask for details of prices!
All of our Castle greenhouses include at least one manually operated roof vent and, the bigger the greenhouse gets the more we supply ! Our catalogue details how many are supplied with each model but, if you feel you need more, this isn't a problem either as we can add additional vents on most sizes.
The picture shows an automaic opener which can be supplied at additional cost.
Automatic vent openers come in many shapes and sizes but the 'Classic' shown is a good, sturdy and well proven opener.
Imagine getting up on a hot summer morning to find everything in your greenhouse has keeled over from the heat ... this is what an automatic opener will help prevent.
As the temperature rises the roof vent will open to ventilate the greenhouse and protect your valuable plants.
An optional, and very useful, accessory is our Castle 5 blade louvre window which is glazed with toughened safety glass.
We recommend fitting them at a low level to draw air up through the greenhouse roof vents thus preventing stale air causing mildew..
Automatic openers are available, also at an additional cost, for the louvre window(s).
Available in plain mill aluminium finish or green.
Every detail of the Castle Greenhouse range has been carefully thought out to ensure the greenhouse performs well and looks good.
One of the finishing touches which you'll generally see only on much more expensive buildings are the nut caps as pictured. ( a standard feature with Castle models )
These are in white on the aluminium finish models and black on the green ones.
Castle staging is available to fit all models in the range or, given that is freestanding, it can be used in any greenhouse or other garden building.
Four widths are available : 12" (31cm) , 18" (47cm), 24" ( 57.5cm) and 30" ( 75cm)
We have a choice of two tier (31", 77 cm high )or three tier (37", 93 cm high )in each width.
Framework can be mill finish as pictured or green.
2ft (57.5cm ) and 4ft ( 113.5 cm ) long packs are available for the 3 smaller widths. The 30" wide staging is available 4ft long only.
Using a combination of different lengths and widths you can optimise the use of the space inside your new greenhouse.
If bought at the same time as your new Castle or Peak greenhouse there is no delivery charge but if you wish to buy the items separately there will be a small charge to pay per delivery.
Insulating aluminium greenhouses to retain heat for overwintering tender plants and starting off new seedlings can be accomplished by using bubblewrap. This is usually pegged to the frame on the roof as well as the sides and gables but a customer sent in this picture of his solution to the pegging problem :
I have fixed the bubble insulation using three lengths of 13mm aluminium tube cut to length and suspended at the ends from the roof. The bubble wrap then just feeds up and over and down in one piece. It doesn’t require any pegging at all. It then just requires about eight pegs only, to fix the cut and shaped two end pieces. The tube can remain insitu throughout the year .
His building is a 6 x 5 Castle Balvenie but the principle would apply for any other model. Don't forget to disconnect autovents before you fit the bubblewrap or you'll lose all that lovely warm air !
This is a great way to conserve precious rainwater. Castle greenhouses have a built in gutter and downpipes which can be connected to any rainwater butt.
We sell water butts in two sizes : a slimline 100litre butt as pictured or a 210litre butt. Each has an optional stand which is also shown in the picture.
The pictured greenhouse is from our Peak range which you can view on this website or at our branches.
As with all of our aluminium greenhouses, this building will be delivered directly to you by one of our own careful drivers. We always like to ensure that your building reaches you in perfect condition, so at point of order we will always ask you to provide us with as much information regarding access to your address and base area as possible.
We will always give good notice of our expected arrival date and work carefully with our customers to try and provide a suitable time and date to suit you. If you cannot be there in person, we will endeavour to leave the greenhouse pack in a pre-designated area, we simply require you to inform us of the area and ensure that it is safe and stable enough for the glass and greenhouse pack to be left.
Our delivery times can vary from season to season, but typically you should expect to receive your building around 4-6 weeks from point of order. All of our buildings are made to order, so during the busy spring to summer seasons this may increase to 6-10 weeks, dependant on the building that you purchase – our advice here is simple – just don't leave your order to the last minute. Transporting glass is specialist work and greenhouses can’t be sent on carriers like so many other items in today's world. Please feel free to contact us on 0800 999 0123 to check our current delivery times.
