Malvern Heavy-Duty Apex Shed
Most other sheds are constructed with only price in mind, which means they use the cheapest timber available, including feather edge boards, chipboard, flaxboard and so on. They are often hand coated with a cheap preservative on the outside only.

Cedar Heavy Duty Apex Shed 6ft x 4ft
Constructed with Western Red Cedar cladding this Heavy Duty 6ft x 4ft Apex shed is in a class of its own.
Pictured with the optional slatted cedar roof, this building will give many years of trouble free service.
Whilst we do occassionally sell these buildings for DIY fitting, the vast majority of our customers opt for the manufacturers' own fitters to undertake the installation of their shed.
Deal ( Pine ) Heavy Duty Apex Shed 6ft x 4ft
This picture of a 6ft x 4ft Malvern Heavy Duty Apex Shed constructed in Deal ( Pine ) is shown to illustrate the option of a cedar slatted roof. The slatted roof is laid on top of the felt which makes the building even more watertight, more attractive, and extends the life of the felt roof as it is not subject to weathering. The picture also illustrates the 3 antique style hinges used on all heavy duty shed doors.
Cedar Heavy Duty Apex Shed 8ft x 6ft
This superb cedar shed is from the Malvern Heavy Duty Shed range. Every aspect of its design has been carefully developed during the 25 years that Malvern have been producing garden sheds. Other photos on this page show the detail of the features that make a Malvern Heavy Duty shed the best value for money available.
Pressure treated Heavy Duty Apex Shed 8ft x 6ft
This 8ft x 6ft Malvern Heavy Duty shed is constructed throughout with pressure treated timber. The pressure treatment extends the life of the building considerably and also gives it its attractive green/yellow hue. The door on this model is hung with hinges on the left for ease of access in this location.
Deal ( Pine ) Heavy Duty Apex Shed 12ft x 8ft
This 12ft x 8ft Malvern Heavy Duty Apex Shed is shown on a bright winter's day. Windows down one side are standard and green mineralised felt is used on the roof unless you choose the slatted roof option ( See pictures of 8ft x 6ft Pressure treated shed and 6ft x 4ft Deal shed.
Pressure treated Heavy Duty Apex Shed 12ft x 8ft
In common with the picture of the 8ft x 6ft pressure treated shed, this 12ft x 8ft model is shown with the pressure treated overlap roof which is laid over the normal roofing felt. Also of note in this picture are the double doors which are an option on all Heavy Duty Apex Sheds 8ft wide and over.
Cedar cladding for heavy duty sheds
This picture illustrates the cedar cladding used on a large proportion of our Heavy Duty sheds. Cedar is known for its long life and good looks. It has its own natural oils in the timber which makes it very resistant to rot. Despite this we still pre-treat your Heavy Duty shed with a wash of quality wood preserver before it leaves the factory thus ensuring it gets off to a great start in life !
Pressure treated cladding for heavy duty sheds
Pressure treatment is literally that : all components of the building are placed in a large pressurised cylinder which forces the preservative deep into the timber. The formulation of the preservative gives the pressure treated heavy duty sheds their green / yellow hue which complements so many gardens.
Good looks and an extended lifetime are the main benefits of choosing pressure treated cladding.
20mm Deal ( Pine ) cladding for heavy duty sheds
Our standard cladding on Heavy Duty sheds is 12mm deal ( pine ). This is treated with a wash of quality wood preserver both inside and out before it leaves the factory.
Illustrated here is the 20mm thick cladding option. Some customers prefer this as the shed walls are considerably thicker and allow some items to be mounted on the boards. In very windy locations it also makes what is already a very sturdy building heavier and less prone to damage.
12mm Deal ( Pine ) cladding for heavy duty sheds
Our standard cladding on Heavy Duty sheds is 12mm deal ( pine ). This is treated with a wash of quality wood preserver both inside and out before it leaves the factory.
Heavy Duty shed door
This picture illustrates the strength of a Malvern Heavy Duty shed door. Fully framed, ledged and braced, this 35" width door will not go out of square! It has a built-in 3 lever mortice lock for security.
For additional security please see pictures below of our 'security pack' option.
Stable door for Heavy Duty sheds
This is a popular option with our Malvern Heavy Duty sheds.
My favourite reason for choosing this option was a parent who wanted to keep his small children out while he used power tools in the shed... what a good idea !
Weatherstrip for Heavy Duty Sheds
This drip cill over the door is a good example of the attention to detail that characterise Malvern Heavy Duty sheds.
Preventing water running down the cladding and into the end grain at the top of the door ensures it does not swell and stick as you find with many other manufacturers' shed doors. It also reduces the possibility of water being blown across the top of the door and into the shed during stormy weather.
Heavy Duty shed door furniture
Black japanned door handles and hinges in antique style are standard fittings with our Heavy Duty sheds.
Also well illustrated in this picture is the 3 lever mortice lock.
Joinery-made windows for Heavy Duty sheds
Look carefully at this picture and you will see the quality of manufacture of these windows from one of our Heavy Duty sheds.
Each window is pre-glazed at the factory. The glass in this particular window is kite marked as it is glazed with toughened safety glass which is optional with all Heavy Duty Malvern Sheds.
Also illustrated are the casement stays which enable the window to be pegged open to suit you.
Workbench for Heavy Duty sheds
Illustrated here is the 15inch wide workbench available as an option with Malvern Heavy Duty sheds.
Sturdily built in preservative treated timber, the workbench allows you to maximise the use of your shed from day one !
Heavy Duty shed floors
This photo may look a little boring but it illustrates a couple of important points. Firstly, the floors in our heavy duty sheds are made from real timber rather than from chipboard or other board products. Real timber lasts better and is more resistant to damp than any board products commonly used in other sheds. Secondly, you can see that the boards are nailed to the floor joists at 12 inch centres making these floors exceptioally strong. Thirdly, the floor is treated with a good quality preservative before it leaves the factory ensuring that it gives many years service ... after all, you can't get at the underside of the floor to re-treat it once installed !
Heavy Duty shed framing
Malvern Heavy Duty sheds have 2inch x 2inch framing throughout. This is exceptionally strong and gives structural rigidity to the whole building making it resistant to bad weather and ensuring many years of trouble free use.
The picture shows where the sides meet the roof ... which is constructed with real timber boarding rather than with chipboard or other board products sometimes used by other manufacturers.
Security pack for Malvern Heavy Duty sheds
All Malvern Heavy Duty sheds have a three lever mortice lock fitted as standard. For additional security you may choose our Security Pack.
This includes a Padlock Protector ( which is bolted into place ), a padlock, and hinges fitted with non-reversible screws which also have a dome bolt through the centre of each section of the hinge.
