The Lodge 8ft x 6ft

This Lodge has optional red highlights which are available at no extra cost. You can just see that it has a fourth window ( glazed with acrylic plastic ) on the left hand side.

The Lodge 8ft x 6ft

8ft x 6ft is the cabin area of the Lodge although it actually occupies an 8ft x 8ft6in footprint as the verandah projects 2ft 6in.

This Lodge has the optional Green painted highlights which are available at no extra cost.

This building is definately the favourite with Children since it has a ladder leading to the ballustraded upstairs section.

Deal cladding

The Lodge is constructed with Deal ( Pine ) tongued and grooved cladding. The surface of this is planed smooth and each board fits neatly into the next.

Before the building leaves the factory each panel is given a wash of a quality wood preservative which protects it against rot and insect attack. The process allows the preservative to get between the boards and into the end grain of the timber ensuring that all surfaces are coated.

Finger Guard

Each of the Malvern playhouses features a stable door which kids just love to play with. However, we don't want them to get their fingers trapped so there is a substantial gap between the two doors covered by a rubber weatherseal.

Piano Hinges

The stable doors on Malvern Playhouses are hinged with one-piece piano hinges and the rear edge of the door is cut at 30 degrees This ensures that, when shut, there is no risk of little fingers getting caught in the back of the door.

Loft ladder

This is what kids enjoy most about The Lodge! The ladder is situated at the far side so that smaller children can use the wall for support while climbing.

The upstairs is ballustraded for safety. As children grow older the upstairs can be easily removed to give more headroom throughout the building.

Magnetic catches

Safety inspectors insisted that Malvern playhouse doors were fitted with magnetic catches so that all a child has to do to get out is push rather than turn a handle or knob. We took their advice as you would expect! The door has a neat circular handle on the outside which is easy for small children to grasp.

Rounded bargeboards and acrylic plastic windows

The bargeboards on the Malvern playhouse range are neatly rounded for safety. The windows are glazed with acrylic plastic.

You may think this rather elementary but compare our buildings with other manufacturers' buildings and you'll see how much better thought out they are.

Rounded framework

The 43mm x 33mm framework used in the Malvern playhouse range is sanded to a smooth finish to prevent splinters. Shown here where the sides meet the roof, you'll see that the roof is made from real timber rather than chipboard or pressed fibre board. This has important benefits if damp somehow gets into the roof at a later date since real timber won't swell and disintegrate.
