Solent package 8ft x 6ft

The Solent package is a high specification, sturdily constructed greenhouse package, carefully thought out for the needs of discerning gardeners. Available in plain aluminium as pictured here or in a choice of five different colours, the Solent is packed with the features illustrated in the pictures on this page. Accessories are all colour matched as appropriate to the greenhouse.

Solent package 6ft x 6ft in green

The Solent package is available in green, brown, black, white or terracotta framework in addition to the plain aluminium finish. Package sizes range from 4ft x 6ft up to 12ft x 6ft.  These buildings have substantially more aluminium framework in them than most other greenhouses and are therefore strong, sturdy and reliable, particularly in bad weather conditions. The building pictured features an extra double roof vent in addition to the package items.

Green bar capping

This is the 16ft x 8ft Solway package ( larger version of the Solent )pictured at our Atherstone display centre with green bar capping.

The bar capping is available in black, white, green, terracotta or brown so you can dress up your aluminium greenhouse with a bit of colour or complement your coloured framed greenhouse with matching bar capping.

Glazing bar capping

A standard feature, this capping slots over the framework. It provides a draught excluding seal along the edges of the glass, retains the glass securely, and looks attractive and streamlined. Pictured in green, the capping is available in black, brown, terracotta or white too.

Double doors with low level access

A standard feature of these greenhouses, double doors give wheelbarrow access to the interior ( or wheelchair access if required ).

There is a low threshold at the entry which means that there is no step to negotiate.

8in wide shelf for gable end

This sturdy, 2 slat wide shelf for the gable end is a standard item with every Solent package greenhouse. Supported on strong cantilever braces, it is ideal for pots, packets and tools. The shelf is colour matched to the package you choose.

Double size roof vents

Everything about the Solent package greenhouse is built with the gardener's needs in mind and ventilation is no exception. The roof vents on the Solent range are twice the size of most greenhouse vents and sturdily constructed. The number of vents depends on the size of the greenhouse so please contact us for details.

5 Blade Louvre Window

2 five blade louvre windows are fitted on every Solent package greenhouse as standard, assuring that you can provide low level ventilation to remove stale air from the bottom of your greenhouse when used in conjunction with the roof vents. Toughened safety glass is an essential feature of these louvres. The louvre is colour matched to the greenhouse.

Package item, Solent Lock Kit

These days plants can be valuable and keeping them under lock and key can be necessary.

Our Solent package contains this lock and padlock kit to give you that added security for your posessions.  Brackets are colour matched as appropriate.

Package item, Rainwater barrel and downpipes

This is a great way to conserve precious rainwater.  Solent package greenhouses have a built in gutter but to collect the water you need a rainwater kit consisting of a gutter stop end, a 90 degree open end and a downpipe with retaining clips. We include a 100 litre water barrel with stand aswell to fit at one side of the greenhouse. A joining kit is available if you want the barrel to stand behind the greenhouse with both gutters emptying into it.

Package item, Vented and Plain panels

Look closely at the pictures of our Solent or Solway packages and you'll see that there is a metal panel below the glass at ground level. This protects against stone chips and splashback but also presents an opportunity to provide additional ventilation.

In our package we provide both ventilated panels and plain panels, the number of each depending on the size of the greenhouse. The panels are colour matched as appropriate to the greenhouse.

Package item, 5 slat 19in wide staging

An essential part of any greenhouse is the staging which provides working surfaces as well as storage.

Our aluminium staging won't rot, twist or rust ! Staging is colour matched as appropriate to the greenhouse framework chosen.

Supported by cantilever braces there are no legs to get in the way or make it difficult to sweep the greenhouse out. The staging height can generally be adjusted when fitting to suit you.

Package item, Bayliss Mk 7 heavy duty vent opener

An essential part of any greenhouse, these openers help prevent damage to your plants by ensuring that the roof vents open as the temperature inside the greenhouse rises.

One autovent is provided for each roof vent in your Solent package.

Package item, Autolouvre

Two louvre windows are included in your Solent package, one of which is operated by an automatic opener. This senses the rise in temperature and opens the louvre blades accordingly helping remove stale air from the lower levels of the greenhouse.

Construction Pack ... ( extra cost item )

Our Construction Pack consists of glass sucker pad, gloves, 10mm nut spinner, pozidriver and pliers : all you need to construct your greenhouse should you choose the DIY route  ( with the exception of stepladders, drill bits and hacksaw )

This is priced at £ 35 if ordered with your package deal and represents excellent value.

Interconnecting Rainwater Kit and barrel ( extra cost item )

This picture shows our interconnecting rainwater kit on one of our smaller greenhouses. The normal rainwater kit provides you with two downpipes but for a small extra charge we provide additional piping�and joints so that the�water can be directed across the back of the greenhouse to�join up at one point.

Also pictured is our 110litre water barrel and barrel stand. This is a slimline barrel and is useful where space is limited. It is included in our Solent and Solway packages but is an additional cost option with other greenhouses.

Delivery service

Delivery to mainland England and Wales is included in all of our package prices. It's also included in selected areas of Scotland but you need to check with our staff as we occasionally have to make extra arrangements for areas above the central belt which may cost a little extra.

On delivery the greenhouse and staging are contained in the larger cardboard boxes, the accessory items are grouped together and the glass needs a clear length of wall to lean against, preferably in a garage or outbuilding. In this instance it is safely stacked against a sheltered garden wall. Nothing in the boxes will take any harm if it gets wet during storage, with the possible exception of the instructions; after all, the greenhouse is intended to stand outside in all weather !

You will be advised of the delivery date so you can ensure that the delivery driver can gain access to unload the boxes and glass.

D.I.Y ?

Should you choose to install your greenhouse yourself this is what you will find when you unpack the boxes ! The components here are from our smallest greenhouse ( 4ft x 4ft ) but the principle is the same with all sizes. Aluminium components are carefully wrapped and labelled to tell you which section they belong to. All you need to do is follow the instructions on preparing them and assembling them which are also provided. ( Orange booklet in this picture ). All clips, nuts and bolts and rubber glazing beads are provided in the pack too. Glass is delivered at the same time as the greenhouse and stacked where you request.
