Malvern Solar Shed
Malvern Solar sheds provide a flexible solution to bringing on seedlings in the spring and overwintering tender plants. For smaller gardens they offer an ideal way to maximise the use of precious space. Constructed in the heavy duty style (see full details under heavy duty pent sheds) you will struggle to find a building of similar quality.

Solar Shed 8ft x 7ft
The perfect way to overwinter your plants or to start some seedlings off in the Spring, the Solar shed has been a favourite with our customers for over 20 years.
About three years ago we upgraded the specification to match our other Heavy Duty sheds, with 2" x 2" framing, fully framed doors with 3 lever locks, the best staging we know of in the industry and a host of other improvements. Since then it has gained a new lease of life !
The building pictured is 8ft x 7ft and is constructed with long life Cedar cladding.
Deal ( Pine ) Solar Shed 6ft x 6ft
This brand new 6 x 6 Solar has the sturdy ledged and braced door fitted at the right hand end. One opening window is supplied with all Solars and 4mm toughened safety glass is a standard feature.
Logroll Solar Shed 6ft x 6ft
The picture of this 6ft x 6ft Solar is included here to illustrate the logroll cladding option available with Solar Sheds. 'Logroll' is a thicker pine cladding than our standard 12mm tongued and grooved deal and has a rounded profile for good looks and extra strength. Solar sheds all have toughened safety glass. The door end needs to be specified at the time of order.
Pressure Treated Solar Shed 8ft x 6ft
Pressure treated construction has become more and more popular in recent years and in 2009 we launched our Solar sheds with this option which has proved a sucessful move.
Pictured here, the 8ft x 6ft model is a dual purpose storage building with staging included to give seedlings and cuttings all the light they need to get established.
Cedar Solar Shed 10ft x 8ft
This is the biggest of the Solar Sheds in our range. 10ft long and 8ft deep, this offers substantial amounts of space for storage and for growing.
Toughened safety glass is standard . The door end needs to be specified at the time of ordering. One opening vent window is provided as standard.
Please note the stable door option fitted with this building which helps provide additional ventilation and keeps small children and pets at bay !.
Solar opening window and roof overhang
It's important to provide adequate ventilation if you are using your Solar shed for overwintering plants or bringing on seedlings in the spring. The top vent fitted to the Solar has a casement stay so you can choose how far it should open. Please also take note of the roof overhang on our Solar sheds which prevents water penetrating the building via the window hinge.
Solar Shed framing
Malvern Solar Sheds have 2inch x 2inch framing throughout. This is exceptionally strong and gives structural rigidity to the whole building making it resistant to bad weather and ensuring many years of trouble free use.
The picture shows where the sides meet the roof ... which is constructed with real timber boarding rather than with chipboard or other board products sometimes used by other manufacturers.
Solar Shed door
This picture illustrates the strength of a Malvern Solar Shed door.
Fully framed, ledged and braced, this 35" width door will not go out of square! It has a built-in 3 lever mortice lock for security.
Pictured here on a Heavy Duty Apex the door is exactly the same on the Solar Shed.
Solar Shed door furniture
Black japanned door handles and hinges in antique style are standard fittings with our Solar Sheds.
Also well illustrated in this picture is the 3 lever mortice lock.
Solar Shed Staging
This is the staging we fit in our Solar Sheds. It is constructed for long life and good looks and is rounded at the edges to prevent splintering. It is mounted on cantilever brackets which means that the space below the staging is not obstructed by awkward staging supports.
We think it is the best available for Solar Sheds in our industry.
Cantilever Staging Supports
These substantial staging supports provide ease of access to the space beneath the staging ... normally blocked up with staging legs on our competitors' versions of this building.
12mm Deal ( Pine ) cladding for Solar sheds
Our standard cladding on Solar sheds is 12mm deal ( pine ). This is treated with a wash of quality wood preserver both inside and out before it leaves the factory.
Logroll cladding for Solar Sheds
'Logroll' is a thicker pine cladding than our standard 12mm tongued and grooved deal and has a rounded profile for good looks and extra strength.
It is treated with a wash of quality wood preservative prior to leaving the factory.
Pressure treated cladding for Solar Sheds
Pressure treatment is literally that : all components of the building are placed in a large pressurised cylinder which forces the preservative deep into the timber. The formulation of the preservative gives the pressure treated heavy duty sheds their green / yellow hue which complements so many gardens.
Good looks and an extended lifetime are the main benefits of choosing pressure treated cladding.
Cedar cladding for Solar Sheds
This picture illustrates the cedar cladding used on a large proportion of our Solar Sheds. Cedar is known for its long life and good looks. It has its own natural oils in the timber which makes it very resistant to rot. Despite this we still pre-treat your Solar Shed with a wash of quality wood preserver before it leaves the factory thus ensuring it gets off to a great start in life !
Pictured here on a Heavy Duty Apex shed, the cladding is identical on the Solar.
